About Marianna, FL - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Nicknamed “The City of Southern Charm,” Marianna, Florida serves as the county seat of Jackson County and has a population of about 9,300. Scott Beverage, a Scottish entrepreneur, founded the city of Marianna and named the city after his wife Mary and her friend Anna, combing their two names into one. Marianna supplanted the settlement of Webbville after the city was founded in 1828 and Webbville dissolved soon after and has ceased to exist.
Marianna is filled with history. The Confederate governor of Florida, Governor John Milton, is buried in the city. A Civil War battle took place in the city between an outnumbered amount of Confederate sympathizers and 700 Federal troops. The city is also home to the site of the 1934 torture and lynching of Claude Neal, an African American male who was accused of crimes. After the lynching took place, many race riots broke out and the racist organization known as the KKK tried to eliminate all African American residents of Marianna. The reform school operated by the state of Florida known as the Florida School for Boys operated in Marianna from 1900 to 2011.
Weather conditions vary throughout the year in Marianna. The city sees an average of about 7 inches of rain during the month July. Summer temperatures during the daytime average in the low 90s and dip into the 70s at night. In order to stay cool, a central air conditioning can help keep indoor temperatures at comfortable levels. And by upgrading to an energy efficient model, residents will be able to enjoy lower monthly utility bills.
Winter months in Marianna tend to be mild. Daytime temperatures remain in the lower 60s on average and at night temperatures dip into the high-30s. However, the area is not immune to colder weather and can see periodic snowfall. Residents will need to have a properly function heat pump to remain comfortable indoors during the months of winter.
